Bearings are what makes a skate wheel rotate. They can range from different number of ball bearings in them (usually 7-8). They range from 5 up to 9 ball bearings in the bearing. The most common ammount is 8 and that ammount tends to give the best roll that last the longest. They can be made of different materials too. Ceramic ball bearings tend to last longer then regular metal because they do not rust compared to the rest of the bearing materials out there. Others can be made from either titanium or steel. Each bearing has its advantages and disadvantages, they all tend to be very similar however.
