The Sure-Grip Avenger Magnesium Plate is a great plate. The Computer Aided Design gives plate the perfect balance between strength and weight. This plate is made from Magnesium which is a lighter metal than aluminum, making it 15% lighter than the Avenger Aluminum Plate. The walls are also designed to be a specific width to give the plate a lighter weight, but also able to with stand much more pressure while skating. This plate has the 45 degree kingpin angle making this plate great for maneuverability, and speed. This plate has had a great reputation since the day it debuted.
These plates are perfectly designed to be used in the “short forward” method. That is, using a smaller plate than you would normally use and mount it all the way in the front of the boot. This method pairs perfectly with the 45 degree angle of the Avenger’s kingpin. If you’re a serious speed skater or figure skater, you should definitely consider short mounting your plates. With all that being said, this plate is still great, even if you want to mount your plates in a standard fashion.
